Michael CoughlinAssociate Michael Coughlin is an Associate with Burke & Handley. He focuses his practice in commercial litigation, banking law, real estate law, and personal injury law. He has extensive experience in all aspects of the litigation process from the investigative phase through trial, with an emphasis on trial work and courtroom litigation. Prior to joining Burke & Handley, Michael worked as a clerk and then an associate with Terrance Coughlin where he gained experience in personal injury Litigation, probate, criminal, statute of limitations, insurance code violations, contract fraud, Chicago housing code violations, and real estate. While attending the Northern Illinois University College of Law, Michael clerked for the Chief Judge of the Juvenile Justice Division in Cook County, assisting in adjudicating the rights of minors. He also worked as a Graduate Assistant performing research and editing research papers on a variety of topics, but with a special emphasis on union associated litigation. Michael also has experience as a legislative assistant and a public relations assistant, having spent time working for Illinois State Representative Bob Biggins and the Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donation Charity.
